We could begin this post by listing the number X of border crossings to Europe that occur each year. Next, we may give another number X, representing the number of persons who vanished, were abducted, killed, but were also saved. We’re not yet asking for numbers. What needs to be asked is: saved from what? From whom? Migration is more present than ever as a result of global injustice, war, discrimination, climate change, and numerous other factors that have accelerated and intensified throughout time. We, as bodies moving on European ground, are part of those stories that aren't necessarily visible to us.

This study circle wants to investigate together what it currently means to cross the border to Europe, who and what is protecting the right of asylum, who and what is involved, and where the EU shirks responsibility. The study circle itself can be understood as an informative yet activist gathering to develop an aim of what we want to make out of it. The first meetings will discuss recent aspects of legislation, protection, aid, and action – each per meeting. We will inform ourselves via recent reports, critical engagement with various websites, podcasts and if applicable, movies. Further information will be provided via mail. 

CN: We will come across traumatic stories and human rights violations. During the meetings, there will always be space to drop in and out of discussions. 

The study circle will be in English and introduced by Lizza. It will be held in person at Brobygatan 7, beginning Thursday March 28th, thereafter every other Thursday for as long as the group decides. You can join continously. If you want to join, send an email to hej@krakelkrakel.com
