“Degrowth” is a concept that has been gaining a lot of resonance lately in the search of alternatives to the capitalist imperative of endless expansion and growth. It is a vibrant and varied field of both research and practice. For this study circle, we collaborate with Institute for Degrowth Studies, based in Malmö. In this study circle, we will look at the key principles and ideas, on which degrowth is based, by reading The Case for Degrowth by Giorgos Kallis and others. We find this book a good introduction to degrowth, which gathers contributions from several prominent authors in the field. Our ultimate aim is to understand what there is in degrowth for the left and if degrowth can be a paradigm for ecosocialism. 

The study circle will be held in English.The study circle will run for six meetings, starting on 9 November, and meeting every other Wednesday the year out and into January. We will meet in Krakel’s location at Brobygatan 7 in Malmö (6.30-8.00 pm).
