What is capitalism, really? An economic system, a societal order, or both? How can we best engage with the concept today? And how can we replace it?
In this study circle we take Nancy Fraser’s newest book Cannibal Capitalism as a starting point for these discussions. In the book, Fraser starts from Marx’ definition, but then proposes an expanded view of capitalism, to account for the ways in which it cannibalizes non-economic spheres and engages with social struggles such as social reproduction, migration, race, and the fate of the earth.
Importantly, she argues that we need to “think big” if we are to give ourselves a chance to “vanquish cannibal capitalism’s relentless drive to eat us whole”.

The study circle will run for seven meetings, starting on March 29, and meeting every other Wednesday from 19.00-21.00. We will meet at Krakel’s location at Brobygatan 7 in Malmö. The study circle will be held in English.
